[…] One might also refer to the photo of knick-knacks on a little table in Ouagadougou […], whose arrangement is reminiscent of pictorial compositions of Man Ray, among others, etc. In a sense, this kind of mutual mirroring follows the method employed by Roussel in Impressions of Africa that emphasise the symmetry of the exotic, the artistic, but also of the pleasure in imitation that exists in seemingly so different cultures.
